Birth doulas are trained professionals who provide physical, emotional and informational support to mothers and families before, during, and after the birth of a baby. They can enhance your birthing experience and improve the chances that things will go smoothly in labour and delivery. Doulas offer guidance for mothers during labour including breathing, relaxation techniques, movement and position changes. Postpartum doulas focus on "mothering the mother" and may assist with cooking, cleaning and helping your family so you can concentrate on caring for your new baby.
At Chatham-Kent Birth Services, we believe that what families need most is gentle support and education. Our goal as birth doulas and postpartum support professionals is to support your family as you transition into parenthood for the first time, or as you continue to expand your family. We believe in creating a safe birthing space and ensuring that you feel confident, educated, and that you are able to advocate for yourself and the birth that you desire.
